Field Inspections
An iPhone and iPad inspection app that works without signal and files every inspection into the builder’s own database, without opening a firewall port.

- A Southeast homebuilder

iPhone and iPad
Inspections are saved on the device first, so a dead zone never loses one.
-
A small service in their Microsoft cloud
Checks every request against the company’s own Microsoft sign-in.
-
A link their own server opens
It dials out from inside their network, so no firewall port is opened.
-
The database they already had
On their own server, as before. Nothing new is stored anywhere else.
The problem
The problem
The builder’s project managers ran their inspections through a Power Apps tool. It needed a connection, which a house under construction often doesn’t have, and every signed PDF depended on a chain of automations behind it. They wanted a proper app for the field. It had to keep the workflow their team already knew, without moving a single record out of their own systems.
What we built
What we built
A native iPhone and iPad app with the same steps the team already used, minus the ones that only existed to work around the old tool. It works offline. An inspection signed in a dead zone files itself once the phone finds a signal again. Behind the app is a small service we set up in the builder’s Microsoft account, and it reaches the database they already had without anyone opening a port in their firewall.
- Each inspection form produces a signed PDF that’s filed and emailed automatically.
- People sign in with the Microsoft account they already use at work.
- Built for an iPhone on the jobsite and an iPad in front of a homebuyer.
Where it stands
Where it stands
In the builder’s hands, with their project managers starting real inspections on their jobs in October 2026. The builder keeps the full source code, with instructions written for their IT team.
